Epsom Baby Photography: Preview

A few from yesterday's session on a in Epsom which was given as a pressie to this new family.

The forecast was for rain so I was relieved on waking up to a dry day. But I have to admit I was a *teeny* bit worried as I drove up to the downs and the fog got thicker and thicker....Luckily this gave us beautiful diffused light to work with in one of their bedrooms (yeay for the houses with 3 floors!) and Macey did so well. 4 months is usually quite a hard age to photograph due to sleep and feeding needs but she was amazing and earned a very well deserved snooze when I left. Check out the tutu....CUTE!

Baby photography at Wisley: Preview

The last time I met this family was on the morning of the royal wedding when I took Matthew's newborn shots. At that point we'd discussed some autumnal photographs as part of their next session and when they suggested Wisley gardens I was delighted. The trees didn't let us down, and we got lots of beautiful colours in their backdrops.

It really is my favourite time of year, I love the changing of the seasons and the promise of all things sparkly and Xmassy to come....such a child at heart. I have a feeling this year will be even more special :o)

Thames Ditton Baby Photography: Preview

This shoot started at Aariv's home in Thames Ditton and then saw us heading off to one of my favourite spots, Claremont gardens, for some outdoor shots. The afternoon autumn light at Claremont was just beautiful and meant we could get some great family ones in the bag before Aariv got too sleepy x

Little Freddie was such a star when I visited a couple of weeks ago on a cold crispy morning for his photo session. He took a little while to warm up to having me in his home, but it didn't take long and he gave me lots of lovely expressions throughout. LOVE his smile....so cheeky! x

We were blessed with one of the warmest October days ever for their shoot at home in Chertsey, but luckily we started early in the morning and their garden provided a perfect little shady oasis for the outdoor shots later on XXX

The last of my second visits to a particular group of Walton NCT families who I first met summer. It's been so lovely to see all of their boys grow up over the last year or so and I'm sad that their First Year Packages are coming to an end. We started the shoot at home and then headed to Claremont to meet the ducks.... Joshua was dangerously close to his lunchtime so we were certainly on borrowed time for the second part of the shoot, not that you'd necessarily guess from the few below though :)

Ahh, little Holly......she melts my heart with her smiles.

I can't believe she has grown so much since her shoot this spring. Still quite small for 7 months old but very long like her Daddy....a tiny giant! We had a beautiful sunny day and made the most of it in Bushy Park where Holly-Berry did an amazing job of putting up with my singing and graced me with a few smiles for my efforts (I think she could see how hard I was trying :) )

Little Oscar had his moment in the spotlight last weekend at just 5 days new to the world.

Now, I don't know what it is with me and newborn shoots at the moment, but my last few newbies have been super alert and really into what's going on around them, and Oscar was no exception....He made me work hard for the sleepy shots.... but we got a few in the bag thankfully :)

Rach & Deane's Wedding Blessing in St Albans Cathedral

I was recently able to take some photographs at the wedding blessing of some good friends in St Alban's Cathedral. This was a follow up to the intimate wedding they had in Italy back in June...which I still haven't got around to blogging...must do so soon! Perfect excuse for a second outing of the dress if ever I saw one. This was the first blessing I'd been to and it was such a lovely ceremony, and a great way for me to slowly get back into doing what I love after the stresses of the last month xxx

Starstruck - J* Workshop in London

Back in April I was relaxing by the pool of the fabby Lucknam Park spa hotel in the Cotswolds when I almost fell off my lounger upon discovering that photographer Jasmine Star was coming to give a workshop in London. Now, I am a HUGE fan of Jasmine's and the thought of missing out this opportunity was enough to have me hot-footing it across to the main hotel (in my robe) to register.

.....And boy am I glad I did.

The course was all about the 8 principles of branding, of which J* is an expert! Suffice to say, it was HUGELY inspiring (I can't even begin to explain how amazing it was!) and I have lots of work to do to act upon my new found knowledge. So watch this space..... :)

One of the best parts of the course was meeting such an amazing group of fellow photographers, who I hope I will remain in contact with for years to come.

A small part of the day was devoted to shooting. Which was tricky because not only was I completely distracted by wanting to watch Jasmine in action, but I was also forced to shoot in Manual mode which is a whole different ball game to my comfort zone of Aperture Priority which I find lends itself so well to my fast paced baby photography

1 Year Photography in Chertsey: Preview

I first met Caroline and Matt and their little one back in September last year when Will was just 5 months only.

They took up the First Year Baby Plan and so with the summer rolling on it was a good time for my second visit! Will was a little unsure of me and the camera at first, but I luckily I had my secret weapon safely tucked in my bag as always - I find that blowing bubbles (alongside REALLY bad singing) is usually enough to draw even the most reluctant of little people out of their shell, to allow us to capture some of those beautiful smiles that I love so much.

Last weekend was super busy one one reason or another and one of my shoots was with these gorgeous 4-week old twins at home with their Mummy and Daddy. Angie bought her husband this session as a gift to mark the arrival of their little one and to capture those first few days as a new family. This was the second visit to Tom and his Mummy this year, and it was so lovely to see them both again and see how much he's grown! I love repeat visits to my families, it's one of the best parts of being a family photographer :)

Tea Party in the Bluebells: Child Photography Surrey

This was the second session I've had with little Tom in the last 6 months, and this one was a very special shoot with the aim of capturing some shots of him and his Grandma for a milestone birthday.
We had a very lovely time at a local National Trust property and the timing was fantastic with the bluebells in full bloom (thanks to mum Kelly on Bluebell watch!)

A few of the images from last weekends shoot with with this little 11 week old at home with her parents in Oxshott - 3 months is quite a hard age to shoot but Natalija was just brilliant throughout.
No matter how many shoots I do, I still can't quite believe the difference just a few weeks can make in a baby and having spent this weekend with a newborn it's even more evident... every stage is just so fleeting.

Newborn Photography in Oxshott: Preview

Last Saturday I visited this little 2 week old and his family in Oxshott. Now, the *ideal* age for newborn shots is within the first 10 days, and with Max just over 2 weeks (and seriously alert with it!) he made me and his mummy work very hard for the shots! He did settle eventually though...after much persuasion...so we were able to get the sleepy shots I so love.

Jemma and I work together at JL, and she's recently had the most adorable baby boy. When I arrived he was sleeping peacefully and on waking from his slumber I was really taken aback by his HUGE blue eyes...one things for sure...he's going to have the girls swooning at nursery.

Baby Photography in Dorking: Preview

From Reigate with Darcy, it was straight on the the second shoot of the day on a farm in Dorking. I tend not to book 2 shoots per day in the winter months because of the unpredictability of the weather and my LOVE of natural light above all else, but with a sunny day I was able to do so. And I'm so glad i did.
Little Lottie was perfect little model throughout and gave me lots of expressions in the short time I was there. Once we'd got the indoor shots in the bag we ventured out onto the farm where they live to take in the surroundings and setting sun....

I first met little Darcy and her parents in spring 2010 for a shoot when she was just 4 weeks old so it was lovely to be asked back now that she's a year older to capture the change in her. She has such delicate little features still, and still the crazy hair ;) . Dawn has been a huge supporter of my work since I met her. I have been taking pictures of little Jack for some time now....I think this shoot was my 5th visit. The last time I saw them was for the Christening last year, and I can't believe how much he's grown since then...no longer a baby, definitely a little man now. This is definitely one of the reasons I LOVE photography, being asked back for repeat sessions, seeing the family grow together and capturing this for them through my work is such a privilege.

Wedding Photography Slideshow for my friends

I'm lucky to be attending the wedding of two of my friends in Italy this summer, as guest and photographer (yey!). They wanted to see some of my recent wedding work so I put my *very* new found iMovie skills to use and made the following to show them. There's just something so lovely about photographs accompanied by a heartstring-tugging soundtrack...a match made in heaven!

Valentine Photography Vouchers - Calling all new Dads!

Valentines Day......now I have mixed feelings about this one. It's typically a little bit hit and miss - one year you'll be utterly spoilt if hubby has been hit by a lightning bolt of inspiration, and then the next year you'll be lucky to see a card at all. Or at least this is how it works in my house (my mother-in-law will confirm if you speak to her).

Now, bring into the mix a new baby at home and I'm thinking V-Day might be quite far down the list of priorities for many new families.

Flowers are nice, but are gone and forgotten in a week or so.
Chocolates...an equally lovely gesture, but then most new mums are trying to shift any left over baby weight and don't need temptation put in their path!
Champagne....top choice...but breast feeding may hamper the enjoyment somewhat.

So...what to do....

....I think the perfect answer lies in one of my gift vouchers, and is only for those wanting to earn SERIOUS brownie points.
Every new Mum would love to receive a gift of photography so they can have this special and fleeting time as a brand new family captured forever.

Baby Photography in Hersham: Preview

I think January is typically a write off for natural light photographers...short days and bad weather are not the easiest elements to work with. Oh, how I love my 5d Mark II and fast lenses...sigh....it makes for happy days even when it's rubbish outside!
We had a reasonable amount of light for last weekends shoot with little J and his parents in Hersham. They were not keen on formal posed family shots, and luckily neither am I!....so I hope that my style suited them down to the ground :)

Last week I started the New Year off with a week's holiday from the day job and fitted in a session with this gorgeous little 10-day old near Guildford. It was a very dark and rainy day and I was a little concerned about the light, but as soon as I saw Rachel's french doors I knew we'd be able to get some great shots. I can't believe how alert she was at just 10 days old, no amount of coaxing was going to get this little one into a deep slumber. It was an absolutely *freezing* day, and I really felt for the Amy and her bridesmaids in their dresses - they looked beautiful though, so it was well worth it!

It being New Year's Day and all, I'm feeling very reminiscent and am considering what an amazing year 2010 has been for my photography business - it really has grown behind my wildest dreams. I feel so lucky to have such wonderful clients and to have met so many amazing new little personalities this year through my work.

Being asked to capture such a special and fleeting time is such an honour, and I really relish every shoot - I can't wait to see what 2011 brings as I have big plans in store.

Thank you to my friends and family for your ongoing love and support of my passion.....and especially to my wonderful husband Tim, who is my biggest supporter and constantly pushes me to realise my dreams xxxx

I recently travelled to Southfields for a shoot with 2 very boisterous little boys of 9 months and 2-and-a-Quarter years (the Quarter was very important to little Alfie!). Quite challenging ages to shoot because they don't like to sit still for a minute...Lucinda and I had to try every trick in the book :)

The final one on the right is among my favourite shots from the year.

At Home in The Purbecks with my Beautiful Niece

This weekend I went home to visit my family in Wareham and before I left my sister and I set about trying to get 20 month old Amelia to sit still for 10 seconds to get some shots.

An impossible task, but I love what we got...especially the poking out tongue shot. A very cheeky little Miss indeed.

And sorry about the flower heads Dad.....caught on camera!

My nephew Harry missed out since he's now all grown up and attending nursery...so it'll be his turn next time.

Matt & Lynne's wedding in Northumberland

Last weekend two of our close friends tied the knot in a castle in Otterburn. I was lucky enough to be asked to be the photographer and had a wonderful time capturing the day for them.

They've gone to the US for an amazing 5 week road trip now, but stayed with Tim and I on Tuesday night and so I was able to show them their preview slideshow before they headed off on holiday... and it was amazing to be able to share this with them and see their reactions in person
